David Rio's commitment to species conservation
Since our foundation in 1996, the protection of animals has been an integral part of our corporate philosophy. We work closely with local, regional and international organizations to make the world a better place.
International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)
As our most important partner, IFAW is a global leader in the protection of wild animals and their habitats.
The organization works to ensure the survival of endangered species, manage wildlife crises and raise awareness of the need to protect our natural environment.
Together, we support innovative projects that aim to preserve the delicate balance of ecosystems and protect the diversity of life on our planet.
We Stand with Tigers
David Rio supports IFAW in the protection of tigers by fighting poaching, preserving habitats, and rehabilitating orphaned animals. Our donations help safely return tigers to the wild and monitor their adaptation via satellite. For each special edition, we donate $2 to these projects.
We Stand with Elephants
Through the Amboseli Elephant Project, IFAW protects Kenya's last 1,400 elephants. David Rio supports initiatives such as preserving migration routes, wildlife protection, and fostering Maasai community involvement. Together, we are securing a future for elephants and their habitats.
Cat Tales Zoological Park
Cat Tales Zoological Park is dedicated to the rescue and care of big cats in need.
The organization provides these majestic animals with a safe haven where they can be lovingly cared for and rehabilitated.
At the same time, Cat Tales promotes public awareness of the importance of species conservation and inspires people to take action to protect these endangered species.
Commitment to Big Cat Conservation
David Rio has a special history with Cat Tales: In 1999, we adopted the Bengal tiger Thor, the face of our Tiger Spice Chai®. For over 15 years, we supported his care and shared stories about his unique character. After his passing in 2014, we continued our commitment by adopting his brother Atlas, who also resides at the Cat Tales Park.

In honor of Thor, we offer a refillable Tiger Spice Chai canister and remain dedicated to the protection of endangered big cats.
Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA
The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA is dedicated to the protection and welfare of pets and wildlife in California.
It offers comprehensive programs, including animal care, adoption, medical care and emergency services. Through its work, it rescues animals in need, creates new opportunities for their placement and strengthens understanding between people and animals in the community.
Our Partnership with the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA
David Rio has been supporting the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA since the early years of the company.
For over a decade, David Rio has been a sponsor of the annual Mutt Strutt event in San Mateo, California, which raises funds for shelter animals. This partnership helps raise awareness for animal welfare and gives animals in need a second chance.
In-Kind Donations
David Rio supports charitable organizations not only financially, but also through regular in-kind donations.
These donations include equipment, materials and products that facilitate the daily work of the organizations and contribute directly to the protection of animals.
In this way, we help to support local and global projects effectively and sustainably.
Our Additional Partnerships and Donations
In addition to IFAW, Cat Tales, and PHS/SPCA, David Rio also supports numerous other charitable organizations through in-kind donations, including the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, the International Association of Giraffe Care Professionals, and local schools.
In 2011, we had the honor of feeding giraffes with giraffe keeper Amy Phelps at the Oakland Zoo and learning more about their care. We encourage everyone to support animal welfare organizations through donations, adoptions, or volunteer work.
